Abbiamo intervistato Rick Jacobs, l’organizzatore dell’Euro Fan Café a Malmö, Jacobs è anche un editor del sito 12points.tv. Come sapete, Eurofestival Italia è l’unico sito italiano Media Partner dell’Euro Fan Café.Ci piacerebbe conoscerti meglio, cosa puoi dirci di te e del tuo lavoro a 12points.tv?
Lavoro in Svezia come produttore – per lo più televisivo cinematografico, ma anche tetarale, che adoro. Mi sono trasferito in Svezia oltre 3 anni fa per il mio lavoro, prima ho vissuto a Londra, ma sono cresciuto a New York. Seguo Eurovision dagli ultimi 15 anni, e ho contribuito a rilanciare 12points.tv sotto la sua gestione corrente. Sono davvero orgoglioso di lavorare su quel sito, ci sforziamo di essere indipendenti e spiritosi, particolarmente con grandi fotografie.
Cosa devono aspettarsi i fan dall’Euro Fan Café?
Euro Fan Café dispone di oltre 50 eventi che si svolgeranno tra il 6 e il 18 maggio. I Migliori DJ d’Europa si esibiranno ogni notte, e ci saranno diversi eventi che si rivolgono a tutti i tipi di fan – da coloro che vogliono semplicemente godersi l’Eurovision alle persone che voglione dedicarsi e seguire tutte le diverse sezioni del contest. Abbiamo lavorato sulla programmazione con i fan club e altre persone che sono profondamente coinvolte nella comunità dei fan dell’Eurovision – quindi pensiamo che ci sarà qualcosa per tutti. Siamo aperti sino a tardi ogni sera, ed è facile da raggiungere, quindi ci sono un sacco di opportunità per stare con noi.
Perché due location? Euroclub e Euro Fan Cafè.
Euroclub, nella tradizione, è stato il luogo ufficiale dove andare per gli afterparties, l’idea dell’Euro Fan Cafe è qualcosa di abbastanza recente che è gestito dai fan club OGAE. Quest’anno, l’Euro Fan Café è qualcosa di ‘più ufficiale.
Quali saranno le differenze tra Euroclub e Euro Fan Café?
Entrambi i posti daranno la possibilità a tutti di vivere grandi esperienze, ma l’Euro Fan Café è specificamente programmato con musica dell’ESC per tutto il tempo, e avrà un sacco di eventi a cui i fan potranno partecipare. Inoltre, i prezzi svedesi di solito sono piuttosto alti, ma Euro Fan Cafe offrirà sconti su cibo e bevande per tutti i fan che lo frequenteranno.
Puoi anticipare qualcosa riguardo agli eventi in programma?
Di due eventi posso parlare ora e sono “The Biggest Eurovision Quiz Ever”, dove avremo un sacco di apparizioni di artisti e premi da regalare, e una sing-a-long Nil Points night, dove cerceremo di scegliere il meglio del peggio. Il programma completo ci sarà a breve.
Potete inviare un messaggio ai fan italiani che saranno a Malmö a maggio?
La Svezia fa molto bene un sacco di cose – grande design, cibo interessante e trasporto affidabile. Ma la Svezia ha sicuramente bisogno di un po’ di passione ed estetica italiana, quindi se ognuno portasse queste due cose, sarebbe fantastico!

We interviewed Rick Jacobs, the organizer behind the Euro Fan Café in Malmö, Jacobs is also a 12points.tv editor. As you know, Eurofestival Italia is the only Italian Website Media Partner of Euro Fan Canfé.
We would like to know you better, so what about you and your work at 12points.tv?
I work in Sweden as a producer – mostly TV and film but theatre also, which I love. I moved to Sweden over 3 years ago with my job, before that I lived in London but grew up in New York City. I’ve been following Eurovision for the past 15 years, and have helped re-establish 12points.tv under its current management. I am really proud to work on that site, we try hard to be independent and witty, with especially great photography.
What the fans have they waiting for the Euro Fan Café?
Euro Fan Café has over 50 events taking place between 6 – 18 May. Europe’s best Eurovision DJs will play every night, and there will be different events that cater to all kinds of fans – from those who just enjoy watching Eurovision to the people who are very dedicated to following all different parts of the contest. We worked on the programming with fan clubs and others who are deeply involved in the Eurovision fan community – so we think there will be something for everyone. We are open very late each night, and it is a very quick trip to get there, so there is plenty of opportunity to stay with us.
Why two locations? Euroclub and Euro Fan Cafè.
EuroClub has, in tradition, been the official place to go for afterparties, and the Euro Cafe idea was something quite recent which is run by the OGAE fan clubs. This year, the Euro Fan Cafe is something a little more official.
What wiil be the differences between Euroclub and Euro Fan Café?
Both places will give everyone great experiences, but the Euro Fan Café is specifically programmed with Eurovision music all the time, and has lots of events that fans can participate in. Also, Swedish prices are usually quite expensive, but Euro Fan Cafe has discounted food and drinks for all fans that attend.
Can you anticipate something about scheduled events?
Two events I can talk about now are “The Biggest Eurovision Quiz Ever”, where we will have a lot of artist appearances and prizes to give away, along with a sing-a-long Nil Points night, where we try to pick the best of the worst. The full schedule will be out shortly.
Can you send a message to Italian Fans that will be in Malmö in May?
Sweden does a lot of things very well – great design, interesting food and reliable transportation. But Sweden definitely needs some Italian passion and Italian good looks, so if everyone brings those two things, it would be fantastic!
