ESC 2013 – Intervista ai Takasa

Siamo lieti di ospitare i Takasa la band che rappresenterà la Svizzera all’Eurovision Song Contest 2013 a Malmö. Come sapete, il gruppo è composto da sei soldati dell’Esercito della Salvezza.

Ciao a tutti. Ci piacerebbe conoscervi meglio, ci parlate di voi?

Il 15 dicembre 2012 il pubblico svizzero ha scelto un gruppo dell’Esercito della Salvezza come rappresentante della Svizzera per l’Eurovision Song Contest 2013. Il gruppo è stato ribattezzato “Takasa” per rispettare le regole stabilite dagli organizzatori Eurovision Song Contest. Questo nome enigmatico significa “rendere puro” in swahili, e incarna la pura gioia di vivere e l’amore per la musica che la band incarna. Rappresenta anche la loro spiritualità. Takasa è composta da sei persone per le quali la musica è una passione. Sarah ha 21 anni ed Emil ha festeggiato il suo 95° compleanno nel mese di febbraio. Sono accomunati da una comune passione per la musica e la fede in Dio.

La musica è passione per tutti noi. Abbiamo diversi background che spaziano dal Jazz al Gospel, sino alla produzione di pezzi per band hip-hop, ecc, ecc. Come band abbiamo uno storia comune da un anno ed è molto divertente.

La band si è unita. Era composto da persone che hanno talento musicale e allo stesso tempo stanno bene insieme – anche se il loro background e la situazione di vita sono completamente diversi.

Ci potete raccontare qualcosa sul vostro lavoro nell’Esercito della Salvezza?

Perché avete deciso di partecipare alla finale nazionale svizzera?

L’Esercito della Salvezza ha una lunga tradizione musicale e viene utilizzato per diversi luoghi. Le band sono felici di suonare la loro musica nelle strade così come in chiesa, in una prigione così come nel Palazzo federale del Parlamento. Il viaggio dei Takasa porterà ora questa tradizione all’Eurovision Song Contest 2013 a Malmö.

Takasa significa “Rendere puro”. Perché avete scelto questo nome?

Takasa significa “Rendere puro” in swahili, e incarna la pura gioia di vivere e l’amore per la musica che la band incarna. Rappresenta anche la loro spiritualità. Il nome è pensato sullo stile di “Hakuna matata” dal Re Leone. Sviluppa sentimenti positivi.

Noi sappiamo che state per pubblicare un album di musica per l’Europa insieme a cantanti provenienti da tutta Europa. Potete anticiparci qualcosa?

Stiamo lavorando su un album e sarà sorprendente. Seguendo il nostro motto non abbiamo fatto le canzoni da soli, ma con altri gruppi di tutta Europa. Così interpretiamo “Together we’re one”.

Cosa vi aspettate dall’ESC 2013?

Speriamo di essere parte di una grande festa e vogliamo contribuire con qualcosa di prezioso. L’ESC riunisce persone con interessi comuni come l’amicizia, la gioia, la passione per la musica e la visione di creare qualcosa di più grande.

Il nostro obiettivo è quello di entrare in Finale. Oltre a quetso vogliamo goderci di una grande avventura musicale e culturale.

Cosa ne pensate dei due brani in italiano (Italia e San Marino)?

Per prima cosa dobbiamo decidere per la nostra Semifinale. Speriamo di farlo anche per la Finale. Chiedetecelo ancora a Malmö!

We are pleased to host Takasa that is the Swiss group that will represent Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö. As you know the group consists of six Salvation Army soldiers.

Hello everyone. We would like to know you better, so what about all of you?

On 15 December 2012, the Swiss public chose a group from the Salvation Army as Switzerland’s entry for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. The group rechristened itself “Takasa” to comply with the rules laid down by the Eurovision Song Contest organisers. This enigmatic name means “to make pure” in Swahili, and epitomises the pure joie de vivre and love of music that the band embodies. It also represents their spirituality. Takasa is made up of six individuals for whom music is a passion. Sarah is 21 years young, and Emil celebrated his 95th birthday in February. They are brought together by a shared love of music and belief in God.

Music is a passion for all of us. We have different backgrounds reaching from Jazz School education to Gospel Choir careers, producing beats for Hip-hop bands etc, etc. As a band we have had a common story since a year and it is great fun.

The band was casted. It was composed of people who are musically talented and at the same time fit together – even if their background and life situation is completely different.

Can you tell us about your work in Salvation Army?

Why did you decide to partecipate at the Swiss national final?

The Salvation Army has a long tradition in music and is used to different kinds of venues. The Band are as happy playing their music on the street as they are in church, as comfortable in a prison as they are in the Federal Parliament Building. Takasa’s journey will now take them this tradition to the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö.

Takasa means “To make pure”. Why did you choose this name?

Takasa means “to make pure” in Swahili, and epitomises the pure joie de vivre and love of music that the band embodies. It also represents their spirituality. The name is thought in the way of “Hakuna matata” from lion king. It shall spread positive feelings.

We know that we are going to publish an album of music for Europe along with singers from all over Europe. Can you tell us something about?

We are working on an album and it will be amazing. Following our motto we didn’t do the songs by ourselves only but with other groups across Europe. That’s how we interpret “Together we’re one”.

What do you expect from ESC 2013?

We hope to be part of a big celebration and want to contribute something valuable. The ESC gathers people with common interests like friendship, joy, a passion for music and the vision to create something bigger.

Our goal is to enter the final. Apart of that we want to enjoy a great musical and cultural adventure.

What do you think about the two songs in Italian (Italy and San Marino)?

We first make our minds up for our semi final. As soon as we (hopefully) will make it to the final we will think about the other candidates. Ask us again in Malmö!
