Alessandro Capicchioni, programmista, regista nonché Capo delegazione di San Marino, ci ha concesso una breve intervista per scoprire qualcosa di più sul ritorno di Valentina Monetta all’ESC 2013.
Nel 2008 San Marino debutta all’ESC con i Miodio. Com’è nata l’idea di partecipare ad un concorso così importante?
È nata dal responsabile della nostra Radio a sensibilizzare l’allora Direttore Generale Michele Mangiafico. Il quale si è detto convinto ed ha avviato le pratiche per la partecipazione all’edizione del 2008.
Quali sono stati i motivi dei due anni di pausa dopo il debutto?
Di natura tecnico organizzativa. La nuova direzione subentrata a giugno 2008 volle una partecipazione più preparata dal punto di vista organizzativo, con più attenzione a tutti i dettagli artistici-produttivi
Nel 2011 e nel 2012 c’era anche l’Italia. Come mai non avete pensato di promuovere Senit e Valentina anche da noi? Quest’anno riusciremo a vedere Valentina in RAI?
In questi anni di ‘buio’ Eurofestivaliero il pubblico italiano ha perso contatti con il festival europeo della canzone e la RAI non è sembrata intenzionata a spingere verso una maggiore visibilità del concorso sulle proprie reti. E questo vale anche per i propri artisti in concorso. Va da sé che per quanto cugini, anche gli artisti sammarinesi non abbiano trovato spazi all’interno del palinsesto. Un po’ alla volta le cose stanno cambiando, ma ci vuole tempo.
Come mai avete scelto di puntare di nuovo su Valentina Monetta?
Una commissione di musicisti professionisti sammarinesi ha preso in esame, assieme alla televisione, le proposte pervenute ed ha ritenuto quella di Ralph Siegel e Valentina Monetta la migliore.
Valentina, lo scorso anno, ha fatto un’esibizione praticamente perfetta, nonostante un brano, forse, non adattissimo a lei. Cosa ascolteremo e vedremo sul palco di Malmö?
Spero uno spettacolo degno del brano. Stiamo lavorando in questi giorni alla coreografia per Malmö e dobbiamo risolvere dei problemi tecnici che “limiteranno” la nostra fantasia. Vedremo una Valentina diversa, più donna, che vive un percorso di crescita e liberazione, come una Crisalide che diventa farfalla e prende il volo.
Avete già deciso in quale lingua sarà Crisalide? Quando avremo la possibilità di ascoltarla?
Presenteremo il brano verso la metà di Marzo e in quella data saprete tutto 🙂
Domanda cattiva, lo sai che qui c’è ancora qualcuno che è arrabbiatissimo per il fatto che lo scorso anno non ci avete dato i 12 punti?
Non ne parliamo, qua son contentissimi invece di tutti quei punti che l’Italia ci ha dato.

Alessandro Capicchioni, programmer, director and Head of Delegation of San Marino, has given us a short interview to find out more about the return of Valentina Monetta at ESC 2013.
In 2008 San Marino debuted at ESC with Miodio. How was born the idea to participate in a contest so important?
It was born by the head of our Radio to raise awareness, the General Director Michele Mangiafico, which agreed and started the paperwork for participation in the 2008 edition.
What were the reasons about the two-year hiatus after the debut?
It were technical and organizational reasons. The new management took over in June 2008 wanted a more prepared partecipation in terms of organization, with more attention to all the art production details.
In 2011 and 2012 there was Italy too. Why did you have not thought promoting Senit and Valentina in Italy? This year we will see Valentina in RAI?
In these years of Eurovision’darkness’ the Italian public left the contact with the European festival of song and RAI did not seem willing to push for a greater visibility of the competition on their networks. And that is valid for their artists in the competition. It goes without saying that as cousins, even Sammarinese artists have not found a place in the show schedule. In dribs and drabs, things are changing, but it takes time.
Why did you choose again Valentina Monetta?
A panel of professional musicians from San Marino examined, along with the television, the proposals received and considered to Ralph Siegel and Valentina Monetta the best.
Last year Valentina made a show almost perfect, despite a song, perhaps, not very suitable for her. What will we see and hear on stage in Malmö?
I hope a spectacle worthy of the song. We are working on these days the choreography to Malmö and we have to solve some technical problems that “limit” our imagination. We will see a different Valentina, more woman, who lives a course of growth and liberation, as a chrysalis that becomes a butterfly and takes flight.
Have you already decided which language will be Chrysalide? When will we have the chance to listen to it?
We will present the song in mid-March and on that day you will know everything 🙂
A bad question, did you know that there’s still someone who is angry about the fact that last year you have not given us the 12 points?
Do not talk about it, on the other hand here we are delighted of all those points that Italy has given us.
